i could very well be asleep right now (and dammit do i feel like sleeping), but there was a story on a b.c. news program and it pissed me off... if i waited until tomorrow to rant about it, i might very well have forgotten.

so, they were showing a story about a boy that was hit by a car while he was on rollerblades. it was related towards a story of a boy who was skating and died after he fell and hit his head because he wasn't wearing a helmet. anyway, this boy who got hit by the car... they were trying to put some sort of blame on HIM! they said he wasn't wearing a helmet at the time, and charges weren't going to be laid.

so what the hell are they saying? that because you don't wear a helmet when you get hit by a vehicle, that the driver has no responsibility? are they saying that if that little boy was wearing a helmet, that car wouldn't have hit him? because if they're NOT implying this, what the hell are they trying to say? maybe... maybe, they were saying that if he'd worn a helmet, that the car would have seen him and stopped in time, or that they wouldn't have tried so hard to stop because he WAS wearing a helmet? maybe if i wore a helmet while i was walking home, everything would have been okay? bullshit!

i guess their outlook is that if you wear a helmet, you won't sustain serious injuries. but your head isn't the only thing that gets injured in a car collision... i know from experience because i got my shoulder dislocated and broken right off my arm. lots of other injuries could be sustained from a car accident. and who's to say that the helmet would have eliminated all injuries to the head? blunt force trauma and neck injuries are still fair play.

so what the hell was that whole comment about? the media pisses me off so much, almost to the point that i want to pull my hair out. there are too many ignorant people out there spewing utter CRAP out of their mouths and it's ludacris. i'm not saying that i'm not ignorant... there's lots of stuff i don't know anything about, but i don't talk shit when i don't know anything about a topic. i keep my mouth shut and try to LEARN about the situation.

goddamn media.
