i was channel surfing last night, and since everything looked just awful, i left it on some movie and started palying cards. it turned out the movie was pretty good for being old, independent, and british. here's the plot...

two girls became best friends and spent all their time together. they started writing a joint story about two girls, based on themselves, and eventually started losing themselves in the story. they lost all grips with reality, and didn't care what happened in real life anymore. they ended up falling in love, and as their parents observed their displays of affection, got all mad and forbid them to see each other anymore. one of them was to be sent away to africa, to keep them apart. so, they devised a plan to kill the other girls' mother (are you still with me?) and run away to hollywood together. she had been writing about it in her diary, and when they found the mother dead, they tracked it back to them and they ended up in prison. their ground of being released were to never see each other again. it turns out that one of the girls was kate winslet, i knew it was her the whole way through! she was actually quite pretty when she was younger, i don't like they way she looks now.

but anyway, this move really hit me in certain ways. and one scene in particular just made me want to kick someone's ass. one of the girl's parents had taken her to a doctor to have her analyzed. this doctor had referred her homosexuality as a "mental disorder", and had assured the mother that she would most likely "grow out of it". he also said that if she didn't "grow out of it", that medical meausures could be taken to "cure her", or something of the sort. talk about pissing me off. why the hell should anyone refer to sexual orientation as a mental disorder? what the hell makes a straight person any saner than a gay/bi person? huh? dumbasses. i wish i could have rung his throat. but since it was a movie, that would be a bit difficult.

but, it was a pretty good movie, you should watch it. it's called heavenly creatures.

in other news, i e-mailed one of my relatives in switzerland last night. my cousin carina has in fact brought her son into the world! hail another member to our huge family, creating a fourth generation, nonetheless. she has named him stefan nico, and details other than that are quite bleak. i swear, when i learn german, i'll be so freaking informed with my dad's side of the family it won't be funny. hehe.

and. i also confessed to justin about dying my hair purple. it was over msn, so i didn't get the full effect of him freaking out. i'm still not quite sure how he really took it, so i'll have to find that out whenever we talk again. but he loves me, so he can't stay mad at me forever. plus, this stuff washes out.

besides, it's only hair.
